On our Google Docs at the high school I work at the add-ons feature isn’t available. I’d love to use this add-on, any ideas on why I wouldn’t have that button?

It is possible that the add-ons feature isn’t set up for Apps for Education. You may need to ask your school’s administrator.

We have the add-on. It works about 10% of the time. When using “select” whether in Chrome or Firefox, usually nothing happens. When it’s working, the bibliography is updated and the reference saved with that document. No in-text features are available, which means you still have to manually add/delete when you edit text with citations.

I’m checking forums to see if there is any workaround for the typical (~90%) failure at the “select” stage for EasyBib.

Nicole is this still happening regularly?

      1. Nicole Prause

Hi Danny, Yes, just now I searched for a journal article, it appeared, I clicked “select”, and nothing happened. No updated bib. If I refresh, the bib area goes solid white and I have to re-enter EasyBib to make another attempt…which also failed.

I have been able to properly cite from journal articles numerous times. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to replicate your problem.

We tried on four different computers (three windows, 1 mac), four different users, and still see the same problem in Firefox and Chrome. We have decided not to use EasyBib at this time, but would be happy to try again as updates are made.

I pushed this off to one of the developers on staff to see if they can figure out what’s wrong. Are you guys using this on campus?

Finally, someone on our team would love to sit down and try to screenshare this with you, at your leisure. Please let me know if you would like to arrange that.

When we are using the add-on in google docs, it appears to be creating citations using MLA 6 not MLA 7. Help

    1. Danny C. Chan

Mary this doesn’t seem to be the case with our Google Docs. Could you please give me an example of this happening?

There doesn’t seem to be a way to manually add a source.

    1. Danny C. Chan

You can always use http://www.easybib.com for that :)

Thank you, but that kind of defeats the purpose of using a reference management tool, surely?
If I have to keep track of my references outside of the tool, the tool fails.

The EasyBib add-on itself is not meant to be a citation management tool but rather a citation generator tool. All that it is able to do is quickly generate citations. The primary reason being the technology that we’re able to support via Google Docs. The actually tool itself, found on http://www.easybib.com is more of a management system.

          We apologize for the inconvenience.

We installed the Easybib add-on in Google Docs, but it doesn’t seem to work. When using “select” after searching a source, nothing

happens. No bibliography is created, we do not get to choose the type of citation. There is a link that says Back to Bibliography, but it doesn’t work and there is no bibliography. I see that this was happening to another user several months ago, was it ever resolved?
